Horticulture Unit
Members gardening in the Clubhouse courtyard
The Horticulture Unit is where members plant and maintain a beautiful working garden
in the courtyard of our Clubhouse. During the late Spring through mid-Fall months
Clubhouse members travel to nearby Becker’s Herb Farm in Akron, Ohio, where they
work with the Ohio State University Master Gardener Volunteers of Summit County,
who help them grow a variety of herbs, plants and vegetables to take home. Members
are educated in a variety of ways; learning how to grow and maintain a garden, the
use of various herbs and vegetables in cooking, and the utilization of herbs, plants,
and flowers, in and around their homes. Members have applied this educational experience
to grow their own gardens at home.
